11/28/01 I was diagnosed with Alpha-1 in late 1997.  This was found in an x-ray after having had pneumonia and they were checking to see if the pneumonia was cleared up.  I had been on Prolastin since late 1998 or early 1999.  

This has been a hard time in my life.  As of late, I have been having excessive trouble with shortness of breath, bouts with pneumonia and upper respiratory infections.  I also use 2 inhalers--Advair 500/50 and Combivent.  My sister and I are the only ones in the family that have been diagnosed with this.  One sibling has tested negative, other siblings have not been tested.
