6/2/2002 Well, as you know, my name is Cindy. I'm 45 yrs young and was diagnosed in 1999 after 15yrs of having "asthma" and a long series of lung infections and upper respiratory infections. I had an old fashioned country doctor who did his best and in the small town I live in. He did do his best. He was always there for me.

After about 1996 I started really having some severe problems breathing and while I was smoking I had stopped for a bit and had no relief so of course. I just went back, (DUMB ME). My sister, Pam, had not been in the loop of our family and when our Dad got sick she came back (thank goodness). She had found out she had this disease 7yrs prior and at the time I was working at the Post Office and didn't have insurance (I was technically part time). Because of that and due to the effect I was having so much trouble breathing, I left that job to get one with insurance. I did and when the insurance began Dec 10th, I was at the doctors December 11. I had the blood test done and got the results in Feb of 2000. I started on Prolastin in March.

I can't say my life has been joyous. It's been a roller coaster ride even since, but I am now (because of something that happened to me 3 weeks ago) trying to change my ways. I ended up in the ER in respiratory failure and that scared the crap out of me. I am now on O2 24/7 (just about) and I am back on my Prednisone and Leviquin because I ended up not feeling well again this past Friday (high temp and all that goes with it). I go to the doctors on Monday for Prolastin, so I will be checked out then.

I am also going to the Advocacy Day and Conference. I hope to meet many a new Alphas there. My that's my story and I'm sticking to it. If anyone would like to talk email me, I'm always up for meeting new people and also talking to some old friends too. Hope this finds everyone doing well and having a good SUNNY SUNDAY...
