Jessica I live in Michigan. I am a Lawyer. My favorite color is Blue My favorite book/movie is Cold Mountain. My favorite type of music is Women Folk/Pop/Alternative. My favorite pastime is reading. I have a pet named Ruby. My favorite quote is "Treat each other with kindness, love and respect."
2/3/2006 In 1984, my mother was diagnosed as an Alpha. She was a ZZ. Both her biological parents died of the disease in their 40-50s. She became a "guinea pig" for NIH and worked with Dr. Crystal. She helped found AlphaOne and developed a CD for newly diagnosed Alphas. She lived in Florida until she became too ill to care for herself. She moved up north, to Michigan, to be closer to my family and her two grandchildren. She died at age 62 in 1990. I miss her every day. I am a carrier, an MZ. I do not smoke and I am 41 years old. I usually get bronchitis every year and I sometimes use an inhaler for exercise induced asthma. I have recently started to notice a slipping sensation when I am exercising strenuously and I wonder whether these are symptoms characteristic of other Alpha carriers. There is no pain associated with the slipping, just a sensation that my lungs aren't working as efficiently as they used to. I am interested in hearing from other Alpha carriers about how they are faring.
