I live in Houston, TX

My favorite color is Green.

My favorite music is acoustic piano and guitar.

My favorite book is Tolkein's, "Lord of the Rings".

I enjoy playing the piano.

I have two dogs and a cat.

My favorite quote, "The sun rises and sets. The moon follows its course.  And I for one wouldn't waste time exploring its meaning."

1/25/2004 I have a 10-year history of elevated liver enzymes.  This year I complained to my internist of three significant problems: itching skin, inordinate fatigue and swollen legs.  I've complained about the first two before, but the swollen legs really got the attention.

The internist decided to approach the complaints by doing my annual physical.  A few days later she called and said there was a test she wanted to repeat.  It turns out she had tested the alpha-1 antitrypsin level.  She also asked me to return for an ultrasound which diagnosed portal hypertension.

The internist referred me to a pulmonologist and gastroenterologist.  The pulmonologist ordered an echo cardiogram, CT-SCAN and lung function tests.  The results of these tests were good.  He wants to see back every six-months.  Of interest I have a sister who has COPD and serum levels near mine.
